INDUSTRY NEWS – OTHER GAMING COMPANIES GOING PUBLIC
Rush Street hits the New York Stock Exchange
It’s a new year and a new opportunity for Rush Street Interactive after the company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange for the first time. No rushing here – only a considered business decision after going public, and an SPAC merger that saw Rush Street valued at a very healthy $1.8 billion.
Publicly Traded Gaming Boom
Continuing the growing trend of publicly traded gambling companies, RSI’s bold move leads the way for other sports betting and online casinos to follow, marking a new direction for the industry in 2021 and beyond. In fact it’s a move that many other gambling names have been making, marking a recent boom in the publicly traded gambling arena:
• A SPAC merger in April saw DraftKings go public
• Golden Nugget Online Gaming followed the same route in December
• Online betting company Skillz, also chose to go public in December
What does this mean for the industry? That exciting times are ahead, particularly for fast-moving, agile operators like Mobius Interactive Ltd – companies with years of expertise and a highly qualified team to back them.
2021 looks set to be a year of significant development, we can’t wait to see what lies ahead, not just for Mobius Interactive Ltd but for the industry as a whole!
SPORTS BETTING AND IGAMING GENERAL NEWS
Tennessee takes the top spot
It might not have been an actual race but Tennessee won it nonetheless – by having the best first month in US sports betting history! With a combined $131.4 million wagered through its four operators BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Action 24/7, Tennessee was able to generate an unbelievable $2.4 million in sports betting tax revenue for the month, putting it head and shoulders above the competition, and marking it as a state to watch in the future.
Is online sports betting taking a bite out of the Big Apple?
According to PlayNY, sources reveal that online sports betting will soon be added to an upcoming revenue bill – which, if passed in the next few months, will see online sports betting going live at the same time.
This will be a huge opportunity for the sports betting industry, with the New York market representing potentially billions of dollars in gross gaming revenue. And are we looking to make that same kind of impact ourselves? You bet.
All the best,
The Mobius Team
